A vaccination schedule guarantees that your dog is kept safe from harmful diseases.
All puppies and dogs need to be current on their vaccines. Different lifestyles put dogs at risk for different diseases and puppies who do not have vaccines are more susceptible to contracting fatal diseases. The Baxter Animal Hospital team will review your dog’s lifestyle and offer a vaccination plan depending on this.
We offer rabies, distemper, adenovirus, parvovirus, parainfluenza, leptospirosis and bordetella vaccines.
Certain vaccines such as rabies can be given every 3 years and certain vaccines such as bordetella need to be given yearly. Depending on your dog’s previous vaccination status, they may require a booster vaccine 3-4 weeks following their vaccinations. An annual physical exam is needed yearly.
It is important to vaccinate your dog to prevent many diseases and build up immunity. Dogs are social creatures that love meeting other dogs, swimming in dirty ponds and eating all kinds of gross things. All of these activities put them at risk for diseases. Vaccines are a safe and cost-effective way to prevent diseases by building antibodies to fight off diseases and illness. Prevention is always better than treatment.
Costs of vaccines will depend on you and your pet’s lifestyle. Please call Baxter Animal Hospital and we can go through your choices.
